Vestbanen, a railway station and final stop for the western and southern lines. It opened in 1872 and closed in 1989 when all traffic to Oslo was directed to the central station through the new tunnel under the city center.
The tall building with two towers is the city hall.
Valkyrie plass station on the Holmenkollbanen. The station was originally planned to be located midway between the National Theatre and Majorstuen, but was moved to Valkyrien after an accident on 23 October 1912, during the construction of the underground, caused 800 m² of the street structure to collapse into the tunnel. It was opened to traffic on 28 June 1928. The station was closed in 1985 due to its short distance to Majorstuen and because it was both difficult and risky to expand it for subway trains with more than two carriages.
