Jason ReedI wanted to spruce up the back side of my Fairphone 5. I used a piece of good quality paper made for oil and acrylic paint and cut it to size, including space for the cameras. Then I painted this with some acrylic paints. Ramin HonaryJust got my <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/fairphone5" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fairphone5</a> The last time I bought a <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/smartphone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SmartPhone</a> was almost 8 years ago, and the <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/tech" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#tech</a> has improved quite a lot in that time. As for the <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/fairphone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fairphone</a> 5 itself:<ul><li>Touch screen is high-def, very responsive, and much, much easier to use with screen keyboards than my older smartphone. I can see myself actually writing code on this, something I have never even considered trying to do on a touch screen before.</li><li>Build quality is much, much nicer than it looks in pictures, to me it feels as nice as an iPhone.</li><li>It is a bit heavy, but not much worse than my previous phone, and has a larger screen.</li><li>Fairly easy to <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/degoogle" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DeGoogle</a> — I just decline all prompts for Google log-ins, and install <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/fdroid" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FDroid</a> apps to replace the default Google apps.</li><li>Boot loader can be unlocked, and I will probably install <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/lineageos" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#LineageOS</a> , but the default Android 13 install is already quite good, and I might try updating to Android 14 first.</li><li>Linus Tech Tips was not lying about the notification settings being too damn loud.</li></ul>After using my old phone for 8 years, I am surprised how fast this phone is now. Everything about it just works better. I suppose this would have been true for just about any phone I could buy, but I can’t see myself wanting for better tech specs. I really hope this one lasts me 10 years or more, I bought it specifically because it is the most repairable phone I was able to find anywhere.First impression after using it for a day: I could not be more pleased, it has exceeded all of my expectations, 10/10 would recommend.

Klar hätte ich das Zeug im Internet bestellen können, so hatte ich aber die Möglichkeit ein Ausstellungsstück anzusehen. Bin jetzt total überzeugt, das Ausstellungsstück ist so sauber und flüssig gelaufen, das UI ist schön spartanisch und die Hardware fasst sich sehr angenehm an! Freue ich mich jetzt darauf es einzurichten!
