I am very happy to share that, thanks to Literature Ireland, I will be translating into #Bulgarian the novel "Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha" by Irish author Roddy Doyle.

The novel won the Booker Prize in 1993. I don't remember exactly why the book grabbed my attention, but after I finished reading it, I just had to convince my publisher to get the translation rights 😀

Sixth person charged with #spying for russia in #UK

tihomir ivanov Ivanchev, a 38-year-old #Bulgarian national, from Acton, west London, was arrested earlier this month and will appear in court on Wednesday.

He is accused of "conspiring to collect information intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy".

Five people suspected of #spying for russia are to be charged in the #UK with conspiracy to conduct #espionage.

orlin roussev, bizer dzhambazov, katrin ivanova, ivan stoyanov, and vanya gaberova will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The #Bulgarian nationals are accused of conspiring to gather information which would be useful to an enemy between August 2020 and February 2023.

After bitter debates on and off since March, the #Bulgarian parliament has finally authorized #militaryaid for #Ukraine

This is great news because:
1) 🇧🇬 is a big producer, so lots of stock.
2) 🇧🇬weapons are of Soviet design (i.e. compatible w Ukr army) but better quality
3) 🇧🇬 has the least Ukr-supportive #European public, yet govt has now taken this step. It means European support for Ukr is growing/solidifying, not eroding.
